reflections on my art shop, the new year, & the joy of creating behind closed doors

hey kind humans ā”Ģ
if youāre reading this that means i finally remembered my beehiv password to start writing my newsletter again.
all jokes aside, itās been a chaotic few months (i realize iāve been saying this in pretty much every email update) but the winter weather has finally caught up to me and iām currently down with a cold so figured, if i canāt film, might as well write :)
to jog your memory, this newsletter is a home for sporadic thoughts about my creative journey; a digital diary or scrapbook of what iāve been learning, what iām working on, & advice that may even help you on your journey. in my last newsletter back in november, i talked about the launch of my experimental art shop & i thought it might be nice to reflect a bit on how that went to kick things off.
so did my art shop fail or succeed?
3 months ago i launched an art shop with stickers, wallpapers, and the first ever zine i designed. more of a side quest than a main quest, i wanted to dabble in the realm of selling my art just to see what the process would look like and to try to bring elements of my storytelling into a physical/tangible form.
i chose low-ticket items that were fairly easy and low-stakes to produce so nothing in my shop was priced over $20. i kept my inventory small since i wasnāt sure how things would go and despite this i still never sold out my inventory (weāre close to selling out the zines though!).
